Ask For What You Want

Cassandra moved to Austin and needed some ready cash to tide her over while looking for a job. She owned a Norwalk top-of-the-line juicer that had never been used. It was worth over $1,000 new, but considering its age, Cassandra decided she wanted $400 for it. She advertised. A man called and his first words were: “You’ll never get what you’re asking. I’d like the juicer, but I don’t have the money. However, I’d like to teach you Aikido in exchange for it.” Cassandra had always wanted to learn Aikido, but at this time she wanted money. She said, “Thanks for the offer, but I’m asking for money,” she repeated, and hung up. Cassandra placed an ad on the bulletin board of a local health food store and went about her business. A few days later, she happened to be in that store again, and walked by the bulletin board to look at her ad. It was gone, but in its place was another piece of paper. It said, “Wanted: a Norwalk juicer.” It then listed a phone number. Cassandra called the number and sold the juicer without a hitch.

How important it is to ask for what we want, and to stick to it, no matter what anyone else says to us. When we get clear about our desires and goals, the demonstration is already made. The master teacher of old really understood this principle when he told us: “Ask and it shall be given unto you.”

Today I quiet my mind and listen to the still small voice. I practice lowly listening until I get perfectly clear as to what it is I desire. I then embody it with every fiber of my being. I taste it. I see it. I feel it. I hear it. I smell it. I am it. I keep my eye single and avoid all distractions along the way. I know that what I desire is now mine. I accept it with all my heart.
Thank you, God.
